On April 5, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, who arrived in Moscow to take part in the 7^th Moscow Conference on International Security.

During the talks, the officials confirmed the importance of strengthening the OSCE as a platform for equal dialogue and cooperation in overcoming dividing lines in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian region and finding solutions to shared challenges and threats. They also discussed the OSCE’s role in contributing to the settlement of regional conflicts, including in eastern Ukraine, activities in the Balkans and efforts within the framework of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia. The officials considered ways to eliminate shortcomings and improve the effectiveness of the OSCE institutions – ODIHR, HCNM and the Representative on Freedom of the Media. They also stressed the importance of building-up the OSCE's potential in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking and the continuation of the “structured dialogue” on military security issues.
