On November 3, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, who is in Moscow on a working visit.

The officials discussed current tasks facing the Organisation. Russia supported the determination of the Secretary General to restore an equal and mutually respectful dialogue on current key issues on the OSCE platform, to reform the OSCE’s work in order to correct the existing imbalances and to use its potential more effectively in the interest of the member states.

Priority tasks include OSCE’s efforts to counter terrorism and other trans-national threats, to interlink integration processes, to protect traditional values and to cooperate in resolving conflicts, first of all, in eastern Ukraine.

During the talks, the officials reviewed the work of the OSCE Secretariat and institutions: the ODIHR, the High Commissioner on National Minorities and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, as well as current field missions.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to constructive preparatory work for the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna on December 7-8.
